Christmas Past ~ 2009

Mommy was going through some old files and found my Christmas pictures from last year. I wanted to share them with my furriends!

Don't worry, these are fake poinsettias!

In my Mrs. Claus outfit ... it's pink!

HO! HO! HO! Santa Jada :) With my favorite reindeer, Donner! BOL! Of course I am :)
Enjoy! I'm excited to share more memories this year in our new house and with my baby brother. It's his first Christmas!

Dear Santa ...

NOTE: I "paw"ed this before mommy found out that ate a handful of miniature chocolate Christmas candy bars the day before yesterday :( I hope I didn't make the NAUGHTY LIST now.

Santa Paws Drive

I would like to take this opportunity to make all my followers and friends aware of the Santa Paws Drive. I started keeping up with them last year when a friend from Dogster had pointed them out to me and mommy.

What is the Santa Paws Drive you ask? Well, we celebrate the holidays with our families in our homes ... but what about the shelter dogs and cats that do not have families or a loving home? What do they do on Christmas? The thought is just so sad for me to think about but thanks to the Santa Paws Drive, those shelter animals get to have a very Merry Christmas too! As they explain on their website (link above), it's similar to Toys 4 Tots but for animals. You can donate treats, toys and/or money and it all goes to 6 selected shelters in the USA, Canada, UK and even Africa. They state that last year they were able to raise approximatetly $7,000.00 in donations including money, toys and treats. What a success!! This will be their second year in operation. The ultimate goal for this program is for adoptions but if that doesn't happen, at least all the doggies and kitties will have something to wake up to on Christmas morning :) Please note that I have also placed a widget on my blog, you can grab one too on their website to link to your blog or other social outlet. Let's give a big thank you to Dorian Wagner, also the founder of Your Daily Cute, and her elves for such a wonderful program and wish it much success for this year and years to come. Please visit their webiste for more information on the program and how you can participate!

Thanks everyone!!

Trick-Or-Treat!

Last night was my town's Trick-Or-Treat night (for some reason they never ever have it on Halloween Day). I didn't break out the cow costume but used my back-up of a butterfly. It was my baby brother's first Trick-Or-Treat too, so being the pro that I am, I had to show him how it's done!

We only went to both sets of grandpawrents' houses but we had fun. If you (or human siblings) are going out, I hope you have a super fun and safe Trick-Or-Treat time!

PetSmart HOWL-O-WEEN Photo Contest

With my silly little BOO cow costume (see HOWL-O-WEEN Costume Unveiled post), mommy decided to enter me in the PetSmart HOWL-O-WEEN photo contest on the official PetSmart Facebook site. The actual contest is called "Scare Your Way Into a PetSmart Commercial" contest and there are also chances to with other great weekly prizes. There are a ton of cute entries and you can even vote for your favorites! You can enter your photo anytime but the deadline is October 27th. The grand prize winner will be announced on November 1st.

Jada’s Entry

The Fall season and HOWL-O-WEEN are one of my favorite times of the year! The weather is not too hot, not too cold, I get to chase leaves and of course football. Not that I really watch it but it means parties at the house (and that means food)! It's also almost time to go to the pumpkin patch. At our local country store, pets are allowed and I go with mommy to pick out my pumpkin. How about you and your family? Do you dress up? If so, I want to see your costumes! Do you and your family do anything fun or different to celebrate HOWL-O-WEEN or the Fall season? I would love to know!

HOWL-O-WEEN Costume Unveiled

It's almost that time again ... HOWL-O-WEEN! So that means it's time to unveil my costume for this year. Drumroll please ...

I'm a BOO cow!
Okay, you can stop laughing now ...
Seriously, you can stop!
Okay, keep laughing ... but I'll be getting the last laugh when I get all those yummy treats!!

Pedigree Adoption Drive: Blogs Helping Dogs

How many of us want to help homeless dogs but may not have the money or unable to adopt? Well now you can, thanks to PEDIGREE ! It's so simple even a dog who blogs can do it ;) If you have a blog, just write a post about Pedigree's Adoption Drive from now until Sunday, September 19, 2010. In return, Pedigree will donate a 20-pound bag of food to an animal shelter. How PAWsome is that?!!

In your post, be sure to include the following bullets listed below as well as adding the direct link to your blog post to the Blog Hop below so we can all see how big an impact we are making! I saw the original story on DogTipper.com

* Each year, more than 4 million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations. Pedigree created The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive to help shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs. PAWS UP to Pedigree!!

* This year the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive is raising awareness for homeless dogs by donating a bowl of food to shelter dogs for everyone who becomes a "Fan" or "Likes" the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive on Facebook. So far more than 1 million bowls have been donated.

Be sure to pass this along to as many of your blogger furriends, animal or human, so we can all help out even more dogs. Also, if you have a Twitter, please tweet about this using by using the hashtag #dogsrule ... the key is to spread the word as much as you can!

And remember ... DOGS RULE!

Hi there furriends!

Just wanted to say that I'm sorry I didn't get around to reading your blogs today. Things were a little hectic and this weekend doesn't look any less busy for us :( I will try to make time to get around to reading them sometime this weekend, but if not I'll catch up next week.

I did want to share an amazing picture my mommy took this morning with her cell phone. Things started off being a bad day for her until she was leaving for work and saw this ...

When you see a rainbow appear, remember God's promise."

What a truly beautiful and amazing thing to see ... a rainbow! It made her think that things aren't so bad and put a big smile on her face. She got over her bad mood and thought of only the positive. Hope this does the same for you!

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Tonight marks the kickoff of the NFL ... WOOT WOOT! Finally it's starting to feel like Autumn with the weather getting cooler and now football.
I'm also playing again in a Fantasy Football league with my MPMM Dogster pals. My team is called the Pennsylvania Pinschers and I can't wait to see how I do this season. Okay, last year wasn't too good, but I'm ready to redeem myself.

Sunday is the big day with my team, the Pittsburgh Steelers' first game vs. the Atlanta Falcons. Hopefully we continue to do well (even without Big Ben who I don't think highly of anymore!) and be on our way to another Super Bowl Championship! Anyone else looking forward to some football?

GAME ON!

Goodies from Mommy!

Mommy went shopping yesterday and stopped at Petsmart for me! She picked up my HOWL-o-Ween costume (not yet shown, it's a surprise!) and some other goodies for me!

The Butterfly Princess (a backup costume, just in case I don't like the other one)

A Fisher Price Chatter Pup Telebone (call me!) and
Martha Stewert Spider toy (the spider screams!)

Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend! We pretty much chillaxed at home ... Can you believe we had no picnics this year?!! Oh well, maybe next year.

On a serious note, we observe Labor Day and pray for our military and armed forces that have fought and currently fighting for our country. Thank you for our freedom!

In Memory of Keno

This post is dedicated to my mommy's dog before me, Keno. Keno passed away 5 years ago today. Sadly he had a cancerous mass in his bladder and my mommy made the heartwrenching decision to have him put down so he would no longer suffer.

My mom had a special bond with Keno and was with him until his last breath all the while telling him how much he was loved. This video is dedicated to my Uncle Keno.

"... then i wouldn't be a puppy!"

Mommy and I were going back through my Dogster Diary reminiscing and found my very first poem I wrote back when I was just a wee little pup. My mommy loves to write her own original poetry so it was only a matter of time before I picked up on some of her skills. Hope you all enjoy!

"... then i wouldn't be a puppy!"
an original poem by jada

if i didn't steal your socks
if i didn't chew the chair
if i didn't potty on the floor
if you didn't have a care,
... then i wouldn't be a puppy!

if i didn't make a mess
if i didn't cry in my crate
if i didn't play all night long
if i didn't have to eat everything that you ate,
... then i wouldn't be a puppy!

if i didn't give you kisses
if i didn't make you smile
if i didn't make you happy
laughing all the while,
... then i wouldn't be a puppy!

but ...

i do steal your socks, and chew the chair
i still potty on the floor and for me you do care
i do make messes and cry when left alone
i eat everything you eat and sometimes even a bone

i do give you puppy kisses and make you smile all day long
i do make you laugh even when i'm in the wrong
i do make you happy and together we are lucky
because i'm so glad to be your one and only puppy!

(c)2006 Original Poem by Jada
Not to be used without written permission from Jada and/or her mommy!

I did submit my poem and it was featured on the site The Pets Poet Club, but that was a long time ago ... but if you enjoy animals and poetry the site is very cute and definitely worth a look!

Me as a puppy 9/2006 ... awww, aren't I cute?!!

Happy National Dog Day!

I had to quick post this today so I could wish everyone a Happy National Dog Day!! Yes, that's right, us dogs get a day! Here is a wonderful link for the National Dog Day Website (www.nationaldogday.com), Founded by Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Behaviorist "Colleen Paige" Sponsored by - Animal Miracle Network. Check out more about the day and its meaning, how it started, more about the founder, Colleen Paige, as well as other neat dog facts, events, activities and links.

Hope you had a great day with your mommies, daddies, brothers and sisters (furless and the furry!) and the entire family. We must also not forgot those doggies out there still waiting to find their furever home.

Although we are appreciated everyday, it's nice to single one out to one day a year to pay homage, especially if it involves some extra special love ... and treats of course!

I'm so loved!!
